This is a series of six books showing the full shed allocations of BR steam locomotives from August 1950 until the end of steam in August 1968. The series is aimed at historians and modellers enabling a clear picture to be gained of the types of and specific locomotives allocated to each shed over the 18 years covered. The full set of books will be:
Part 1 – London Midland Region, sheds 1A to 28B
Part 2 – Eastern Region, sheds 30A to 41K
Part 3 – North Eastern Region, sheds 50A to 56G
Part 4 – Scottish Region, sheds 60A to 68E
Part 5 – Southern Region, sheds 70A to 75G
Part 6 – Western Region, sheds 81A to 89D
Part 7 - Diesel & Electric Loco. Shed Allo. 1905-Dec.1974
Part 8 - Further titles to follow, covering more recent Diesel and Electric locomotives and Diesel Multiple units.
Within each book the sheds are listed alphabetically by their names (as they appeared in the books of the time). Within each shed all the steam locomotives allocated to that shed are listed in numerical order together with the dates that they were there for, even if it was only for one month. Thus this publication shows more than those which just have "snapshots" of allocations for specific dates. Using an alphabetical list gets around the problem that sheds changed code (and sometimes Region) over time. Where sheds moved from one region to another the full information for the 18 years is repeated in both relevant books – for example Exmouth Junction appears in both the Southern and Western books with allocations in full from 1950 to 1966. For cross reference purposes, a full list of BR codes and the sheds they applied to over which dates is included at the end of each book.
This is a series of booklets, published a couple of times a year by G Hedges. These booklets concentrate on British N Gauge modelling. Articles are writen by a number of N Gauge modellers on all sorts of topics. Part 1 to 5 are now sold out.
